Natural aging can cause changes to our skin that are not always pleasant. Aging signs occur most commonly on the face, where they, unfortunately, cannot be easily concealed. Many individuals with signs of aging can treat their concerns with minimally invasive injectable treatments.

Injectables can correct areas of volume loss in the face without surgery, providing patients with a rested, youthful appearance they can feel confident about without any downtime.

What Can Injectables Target?

Injectables offer a quick and easy option to correct facial imperfections. Injectables can target:

  • Fine lines
  • Deep lines and creases
  • Moderate to severe wrinkles
  • Sunken cheeks
  • Facial hollows
  • Thin lips
  • Acne scars

How Are Injectables Performed?

Injectables are inserted into the targeted areas with a small needle. This will only take a few minutes per area. Your injectable treatment length will depend on the number of treatment areas, the type of injectable you are receiving, and the amount of correction needed. For certain injectables, multiple treatment sessions may be necessary to experience optimal results.

What Are My Injectable Options?

There are many injectable options available to help correct your troubled areas. Generally, there are two types of injectables: neurotoxins and dermal fillers.

Schedule a consultation with Dr. Carpenter to help determine which type of injectable treatment is right for you.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic works to reduce the appearance of frown lines, wrinkles, fine lines, and deep creases in the upper face using a protein derived from botulinum toxin A. This injectable makes it so certain muscles in your face cannot contract, allowing the wrinkles to relax and soften.

In addition to its cosmetic use for eliminating aging signs, BOTOX® Cosmetic is also FDA approved to treat chronic migraines, excessive underarm sweating, and an overactive bladder.

Dermal Fillers

JUVÉDERM® XC is an FDA-approved gel filler made of hyaluronic acid that works to reduce the appearance of severe facial wrinkles, lines, and folds, specifically those around the nose and mouth. This injectable can restore natural contours to the face and is also used as a lip filler.

JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC is the first injectable made of hyaluronic acid that is FDA approved to add volume to the cheeks. Candidates for JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC are over 21 years old and experience loss of volume in the cheek area. In some cases, when rhinoplasty surgery is not necessary, this injectable can be used to change the appearance of the nose.

JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ XC, made of hyaluronic acid, is injected into the facial tissue to correct facial wrinkles and folds. This injectable is beneficial for men and women over 21 years old who experience severe lines around the mouth and nose. With proper care, results can last up to 18 months.

Dr. Carpenter uses JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA™ XC, a hyaluronic-acid based injectable, that plumps lips and smooths lines. As one of the longest-lasting injectables on the market, it can leave lips plump for up to 12 months (other lip fillers last about four to six months). JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA™ XC also uses a special cross-link technology known as Vycross to hold a combination of both high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid together in a cohesive gel, which remains intact after it’s injected into the skin. This mixture of high- and low-weight hyaluronic acid in the Vycross technology means it creates a more connected gel that can be molded, effectively lifting sunken skin sitting above it. Because it’s more connected, patients get the most natural-looking results and less swelling. These benefits make Juvéderm Volbella XC a great fit for filling laugh lines, too.

Restylane® is an injectable gel made of hyaluronic acid used to restore volume to the face, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips, and enhance facial contours. Restylane® results are immediate, lasting six months to a year. However, in some cases, results can last up to 18 months.

How Much Does an Injectable Treatment Cost?

The cost of injectables depends on which injectable treatment you are receiving, the amount of product being used, and the amount of correction needed. Additionally, some injectables may require more than one session. A consultation with Dr. Carpenter can help determine your exact needs for the treatment, giving you a more specific financial estimate.

How Long Is the Recovery From Injectables?

Injectable treatments require no downtime. You are free to drive yourself home and return to work immediately after your treatment. However, some patients experience swelling, redness, and tenderness that can last a few days.

How Long Will My Results From Injectables Last?

Your injectable results will vary depending on the type of treatment you receive and how your body ages. Generally, results from injectables can last from three months up to two years.
