Breast Augmentation With Lift in Dallas, TX

Breast augmentation and breast lift surgeries are two of the most popular plastic surgery procedures, consistently landing in the top five most-requested cosmetic procedures every year. Because age, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight fluctuations all affect the size and position of the breasts, many women wish to undergo breast augmentation or breast lift surgery to restore a more youthful contour to their figure. Combining breast augmentation with a lift gives you the best of both worlds, with only one surgery and one recovery period necessary to regain your confidence.

Am I a Candidate for Breast Augmentation With Lift?

Ideal candidates for breast augmentation combined with lift are individuals in overall good health. Reasons to choose breast augmentation with a lift include:

  • You wish to add volume to your breasts.
  • Your breasts have lost shape and volume due to age, genetics, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
  • Your breasts appear flattened or elongated.
  • Your breasts are asymmetrical.
  • Your nipples fall below your natural breast crease.
  • Your nipples point downwards.
  • Your areolas are enlarged.

If one or more of the above reasons describes your issues with your breasts, you may be a good candidate for breast augmentation with a lift.

How Is a Breast Augmentation With Lift Performed?

Breast augmentation involves the placement of a saline or silicone implant, while a breast lift eliminates excess skin, moves your nipple, and lifts and shapes the breast tissue. Combining a breast lift with your augmentation procedure is an excellent way to get the most from your breast surgery. Breast augmentation with lift not only restores and adds volume to your breasts but also repositions them and gives them a more beautiful shape.

When you undergo a breast augmentation combined with a lift, Dr. Carpenter begins by making an incision in your breast according to the degree of sagging in your breasts–either a donut incision or a vertical incision (the most commonly used pattern by Dr. Carpenter). He then creates a pocket in your breast for the implant and places it underneath the pectoral muscle. Once the implant is placed, Dr. Carpenter repositions your nipple and areola, reshaping your breast tissue into a more youthful contour. Finally, he trims away the excess skin and closes the incisions with sutures.

Can I Combine My Breast Augmentation With Lift With Any Other Procedures?

In most cases, you will be able to combine your breast augmentation with a lift with additional procedures, including a tummy tuck, liposuction, and other body contouring surgeries. The primary consideration is how long each procedure takes, as there is a limit to the time you can be safely under general anesthesia. When you come in for your consultation, you can address this with Dr. Carpenter when discussing your surgery goals.

What Is Involved in Breast Augmentation With Lift Recovery?

After your breast augmentation with lift surgery, you will feel sore and want to rest, especially for the first week. You will have some bruising and swelling but will wear a compression garment to help support your breasts and minimize swelling. You may also feel a bit of tightness or increased sensitivity in your breasts, which is also expected. Any discomfort can be alleviated by prescription or over-the-counter pain medication. During your recovery, you must sleep on your back in an inclined position, which also helps minimize swelling.

Most patients can return to work and regular household activities 7-10 days after their surgery, although this is contingent on how physical your job is. You are prohibited from lifting more than five pounds or doing any pulling or pushing for the first month after your surgery. Additionally, you won’t be able to drive for at least the first 10 days, so consider that.

What Risks Are Associated With Breast Augmentation With Lift?

Breast augmentation with lift is considered safe, but as with all surgeries, there are some risks, including:

  • Capsular contracture
  • Swelling
  • Infection
  • Poor wound healing
  • Change in nipple sensation

If you experience any unusual symptoms as you recover from your breast augmentation with a lift, contact Dr. Carpenter immediately.

What Results Can I Expect From My Breast Augmentation With Lift?

Immediately after your surgery, you will be able to see the new shape and position of your breasts. They may seem to sit higher on your chest than expected, but they will settle into position over the coming weeks.

When Will I See the Final Results of My Breast Augmentation With Lift?

As the swelling from your surgery subsides, the appearance of your breasts will continue to improve. After the first month, you will be able to see how your breast implant with lift results improved your profile, and you will see your full results within three months after your surgery.

Are the Results of My Breast Augmentation With Lift Permanent?

Breast augmentation with lift results are considered permanent; however, you may need to “touch up” your breasts down the line. Gravity and the aging process may affect the position of your breasts, so if it becomes bothersome, you may opt to get a secondary breast lift.

Protocols regarding routine imaging of breast implants are presented initially and reviewed during your follow-up visits.
